The General Commander of the Imperial Guard is a military, Official of high grade into service, who enjoys the full confidence of the Sovereign Grand Master. His task is the protection of the Sovereign Grand Master and the peace of the Order. He rules the Imperial Guard, which is composed, preferably, of military and is directly financed, where possible, from the Royal and Imperial House. The Commander is also Head of the General Security during the Order's ceremonies; he predisposes a security service, working, where appropriate, with the police present, and liaising with the Field Assistant.
